After piercing take good care of you piercing by cleaning with alcohol (which you can purchase from a pharmacy for a 1,000) or salt water (mix salt and water).

Clean every two or three days for two weeks. Then you are good as gold!

The cleanliness prescription is for any piercing.

Sometimes, after a few days the area will become a little bit itchy–it’s OK–it’s almost healed!

In addition, Navel Piercings: Avoid taking baths or swimming in the swimming pool (swimming in the ocean is okay). Avoid doing so until you can pull on your navel piercing and feel no pain.

For Lips and Tongue:

Clean at least twice a day with Listerine (or similar product) and gargle with warm (or cold but warm is better) water at least twice a day for 2 weeks.

Problems:

If your piercing is swelling and the piercing is feeling tight. Don’t take it out–just come back to the store to change the piercing with one that has a longer barbell/piercing.

If your piercing becomes infected go to a pharmacy and ask for “my-shin” or “antibiotic” and show your piercing to the pharmacist. Do not take the piercing out. Clean the area with alcohol. The infection will subside in 3 days to a week.
